Right now! A lot of people are people are getting a little lazy when it comes to vitamins and supplements. People think, "I'm not really getting that much sunlight, so I should take a vitamin D supplement." Okay, you're right. You're not getting a lot of natural sunlight. You're also not spending much time outside running or playing. You're hanging out inside with the air conditioning on. In other words, you're not doing enough to synthesize vitamin D naturally. So, taking a pill is not a bad idea. In fact, it's smart.

Vitamins and supplements:

The best time to take vitamins and supplements is in the morning on an empty stomach. This is because there is a steady supply of blood to the digestive system in the morning and therefore there is better absorption of vitamins and nutrients into our system. Therefore, vitamins taken at breakfast time help to keep our body in good shape. However, if there is any food in your stomach, then the vitamins will have to compete with the food and will be digested along with the food. This reduces the effect of the vitamins.

Vitamin D:

When the body is most receptive to them. Vitamin D is best absorbed on an empty stomach and morning is the best time of day for your body to absorb vitamin D. Vitamin C is best absorbed with a little fat, so taking a multivitamin with breakfast is a good idea. There is no exact time vitamins should be taken, but it's best to take them before or after a meal.
